Another amazing place. Or life birds.
There's usually Border Patrol agents on their bikes circling the area, they're super friendly too.
Great trails and views. Only $5 per vehicle. I visited to find birds and wasn't disappointed. A variety of water and riparian birds.
I've done some of the trails too but they're not as well maintained. Some of the highlights are the overlook towers and the rope bridge.
Love this place you can really enjoy nature it a very well keep place and they have a slot informatin about animals and their bird watching places are great.
If you like nature, this is the place to go. They have miles of trails that go right up to rhe Rio Grande River. This is a great place for birdwatching.
$5 cash entry fee, $10 for an annual pass. Sunday's of first month are free.
I like going to run or train with my pack on the 7.0 mile Wildlife Drive. It's a paved loop that circles the refuge. I really like the end of the drive walking on the levy and then making my way to the visitors center. It's hot yes, but I enjoy it. I've seen plenty of wild hogs, rabbits, chachalacas etc. Bring water, stay hydrated. It does get hot.
